Westlanders

"Forge your legacy in the Westlands. Gather, craft, and expand from your wagon into bustling settlements across a Wild West open world."

I was sent this game trailer from a viewer and had to check it out for myself! I will post the video below:

Before we get into the nitty gritty of the game here is my best overview from what I have seen in the reveal trailer. It has some aspects of famous games like Rust and Red Dead Redemption. The players are in control of a mobile base which is the very customizable wagon. Playing by yourself or with other players you must travel the Westlands to survive!

What We See from the trailer:

  1. Players can ride in their wagons or horses.

  2. Wagons carrying any goods will reflect what the player sees inside.

  3. There is a lot of places to go from, mines to mountains, to wide open plains and dense forest, to busy towns.

  4. Dangers include players, storms, wildlife like bears, roadways that the wagon barely fits on while going along a cliffs edge!

  5. Wagon wheels will fall off the wagon. Note this sucks for the last part of number 4.

  6. Can fully build a home

  7. 1st person view looks like rust or sons of the forest.

  8. there is crafting

  9. physical numbers that appear when damaging things. i.e chopping down a tree, or shooting an arrow at someone.

  10. players can set up an actual campsite like the old wagon days.

  11. Weapons we have seen, arrow and spear, firearms

  12. Native American houses

About the Developers

The developing studio for Westlanders is called The Breach Studios. Their website can be located here. They state that their mission objective is to "push the boundaries of already established genres within new and innovative ideas". This give me the vibe like "HEY! We are here to bring a fresh new look to the games we already enjoy." Games are meant to be fun so I defiantly like this mission statement from them. The team is comprised of 26 talented gaming industry veterans. They have backgrounds from companies like Ubisoft, Konami, and Sony. The studio is located in Barcelona, Spain, so I am intrigued to see what they can bring to the Cowboy area video game world with Westlanders.
