Midweek Gamin Roundup - October 2, 2025 - Week 1
Welcome back to this week’s Midweek Roundup! Here’s everything making waves in the gaming world right now — from industry shakeups to big updates you need to know about.
EA was SOLD!
Gamers are going nuts and not in a good way since EA was just sold to a Saudi investment Fund for $55 billion, yes that billion with a “B”. The deal included $20 billion in debt financing that EA will be responsible for paying and It will now become a private company. With Electronic Arts having to finance they will have to cut costs and maximize profits which could lead to rushed games. Now that they will be a private company it will be harder for the public to see the health of the company via game sales and other key performance data. People are worried since Saudi Arabia’s human rights record isn’t the best, which causes some to worry this is their government's way of propaganda. There's even a meme already going around. I'll post it below this.

I do think there is some truth behind the worrying of rushed games. I honestly think we will continue to see AAA studios produce some mother board crash boxes. What do you think? Electronic Arts press release if you wish to know more
Xbox game ASS... You see what I did there?

WOW Xbox announced a “new and revised” Xbox Game pass experience. Brother save your money, the base tier is $10 a month for only 50 gaming titles, not even the good ones. Oh you want the good games the day ones? Yeah that will be $30 a month. There are now 3 tiers for the Xbox game pass. Essential is $9.99/month with 50+ games. Premium is $14.99/month with 200+ games. Ultimate is $29.99/month and 500+ games with New games on day one. This is supposed to be a service and Microsoft sees that there is an increase in popularity with subscription based services for gaming. This is a complete rip off and I’m not alone in that feeling.
I hope Microsoft sees their mistake because not everyone has the money to buy a brand new game every 2 months($30/ month x 2 = $60 new game). I feel like they are turning into Netflix what's next ADs mid mission. Final Thoughts
With everything going on in the world it seems that studios are being brought left and right. I mean just the other day I saw on X another studio had to have lay-offs. Do you think Xbox Game Pass is still worth it after this change?
