Battlefield Studios has officially announced Battlefield 6, a FPS title coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC (Steam, EA App, Epic Games Store) on October 10, 2025. The game promises, “All-out war, fast-paced close-quarters combat, and tactical destruction.” (Electronic Arts, 2025)

Set in modern-day 2027, Battlefield 6 maps allow for 64 players to select their class and fight over objectives. The story is about NATO and Pax Armata, a Private Military Corporation supported by former NATO members. The developer, Battlefield Studios is comprised of four studios. The studios are DICE, Criterion Games, Motive Studio, and Ripple Effect Studios(formerly Ridgeline Games). Ripple Effect helped develop Battlefield 4 and led the development of the expansions too, so looks like we are in good hands. Oh, they also made Medal of Honor (2010) and helped make Battlefield 3.

  • All-Out War

  • Tactical Destruction

  • 64 Player Maps

  • 9 Maps, 9 Game Modes, 34 Weapons, 11 Vehicles

Utilizing their Frostbite engine which allows them to have destructible environments, real-time lighting, selective sound prioritizing, long distance viewing, and high resolution graphics. The first trailer shows amazing cinematics, destruction, and attention to detail.

According to Electronic arts, In Battlefield 6, the series’ incredible blend of visceral combat, epic warfare, and player freedom returns. Blow through walls and bring down buildings for a tactical advantage or take to the skies in white-knuckle dogfights. Take part in a war filled with tanks, fighter jets, and sweeping combat at a grand scale but remember: the deadliest weapon is your squad.”

Since the reveal, fans have been overly excited for the game's release. Since the Open Beta last month, the amount of hype I have seen across social media is amazing. It seems like Battlefield Studios might actually be listening to the gaming community. Hopefully they continue to produce a fantastic game and not a flop like 2042. I miss the feeling that Battlefield 3,4 gave me. There was nothing like setting up ambushes with C4 or watching the shear destruction those titles brought to first person shooters. As long as Battlefield 6 can deliver to the masses what they want, I believe they could make a positive change in first person shooters. Gamers just want to have fun playing games.
